TAY-R-0011L

The Taylor R-0011L Calcium Indicator is a crucial liquid dye reagent for Taylor pool and spa test kits, used to visually determine calcium hardness, changing the water sample from red (when calcium is present) to blue at the test's endpoint, indicating the hardness level has been accurately measured, often with R-0010 and R-0012 reagents

  1. Prepare Sample: Rinse the tube with pool water, then fill the large comparator tube to the 25 mL mark.
  2. Add Buffer: Add 20 drops of Taylor R-0010 and swirl to mix.
  3. Add Indicator (R-0011L): Add 5 drops of R-0011L. The water should turn red or pink; if it turns blue, your hardness is zero.
  4. Titrate with R-0012: Add R-0012 one drop at a time, swirling and counting each drop until the color changes from red/pink to blue.
  5. Count & Calculate: Multiply the number of drops of R-0012 by 10 to get your calcium hardness (CH) in parts per million (ppm).
  6. Check Endpoint: For accuracy, add one more drop of R-0012; if the color doesn't change further, that last drop doesn't count
