TAY-R-0007

Taylor R-0007 thiosulfate is a vital reagent in pool and spa water testing, primarily used to neutralize chlorine, bromine, or ozone in a water sample before performing tests like Total Alkalinity or Calcium Hardness to ensure accurate results, preventing interference from sanitizers. It works by reacting with and removing these oxidizers, allowing other indicator chemicals to function correctly for precise readings

  1. Sample: Fill the test tube to the 25 mL line with pool water.
  2. Add R-0007: Add 2 drops of R-0007 (Thiosulfate) and swirl.
  3. Add R-0008: Add 5 drops of R-0008 (Alkalinity Indicator) and swirl; the sample should turn green/blue.
  4. Titrate with R-0009: Add R-0009 (Alkalinity Titrant) one drop at a time, swirling after each, until the color changes to a permanent red/pink/yellow (endpoint).
  5. Calculate: The number of R-0009 drops indicates your TA level, using the formula in your kit
